Answer:
The boy's words and thoughts reveal him to be compassionate and empathetic towards the poor and needy.
3. How are the Words and Thoughts of the Beggar in the Two Narratives Different?
a) - Son, thank you! So you've given to the old man. - the old man spoke with a hoarse voice.
b) With a hoarse voice, the old man thanked me and said that I had already given to him.
Answer:
Words and thoughts of the beggar.
Method 1: Direct quotation. These are the exact words of the beggar. Therefore, he refers to himself as 'old man' and addresses the boy as 'son.'
Method 2: Indirect quotation. The writer, the narrator refers to himself, calls the beggar 'the old man.'

1. Identifying Direct and Indirect Quotations in the Following Passage:
Three boys went into the forest. Because they were playing, they came back quite late. The boys discussed how to avoid being scolded by their parents. The first boy decided to lie and say he was chased by a wolf.
The second boy said:
- As for me, I'll say I was visiting my grandpa.
- In my opinion, it's best if we just admit our mistake to our parents. - the third boy suggested.
