Question 1 (page 160 Vietnamese 4 textbook): Read the Tug of War story and identify the regions it introduces. Summarize the introduced games.
Answer:
The Tug of War introduces games from Huu Trap village, Quoc Vo district, Bac Ninh province, and Tich Son village, Vinh Yeu town, Vinh Phuc province.
Tug of War is a widely popular traditional game in our country, known by almost everyone. This game not only attracts a large audience but also has many participants, making it lively, vibrant, and filled with joyful laughter.
To engage in Tug of War, two teams are required, each with an equal number of participants. In the tug-of-war formation, members of each team tightly link arms around each other, with the two leaders interlocking their arms. Team members can also hold onto a long rope. According to the rules, a tug-of-war match must have three rounds. There is a boundary line separating the two teams. Using all their strength, the team that pulls the other across into their territory with more ropes wins.
The essay uniquely introduces two tug-of-war competitions in Huu Trap village and Tich Son village.
In Huu Trap village, tug-of-war is a competition between two teams: a male team and a female team. Historically, males were considered the stronger sex, with some years seeing the male team win and others the female team. Regardless of the winner, the competition is always lively, filled with fierce competition, and especially the enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
In Tich Son village, tug-of-war is a competition between the robust men of two factions within the village. In this competition, the number of participants from each side is unlimited. If a faction loses in the initial rounds, they pull in more men in the subsequent rounds. This way, the defeated faction turns the tide to victory.
In addition to tug of war, there are many other folk games such as wrestling, martial arts dance, swing jumping, and rice-blowing competition.
Question 2 (page 160 Vietnamese 4 textbook): Introduce a game or an opening, emphasizing the interesting games or festivals in your hometown.
Answer:
The task requires students to introduce a game or a festival in their hometown.
To begin the introduction, students must clearly state where their hometown is and mention any interesting games or festivals they would like to share with others.
For example, my hometown is Vinh Binh town, Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province. Every year on the fifteenth day of the lunar new year, people here enthusiastically participate in the Ky Yen festival, a celebration whose origins date back beyond memory.
