The Minecraft 1.19 Wild Update will be released on all platforms on June 7, 2022. It will bring numerous changes and new content, among which the Recovery Compass stands out. It allows players to identify where they died and retrieve their items.
Everything you need to know about the Recovery Compass in Minecraft 1.19 Wild Update
1. Crafting the Recovery Compass in Minecraft 1.19
To craft the Recovery Compass in Minecraft 1.19, players need 8 pieces of Echo Shards and a regular compass. Then, simply place the regular compass in the center of the crafting grid and surround it with Echo Shards (as shown in the illustration below).
- Obtaining 8 Echo Shards
Echo Shards are items found in ancient cities and can be used to craft the recovery compass. They can be obtained from chests in Ancient Cities. Each chest has a 29.8% chance to yield 1-3 Echo Shards. On average, players will need to open about 5 chests to gather enough shards for one compass.
- Obtaining a regular compass
The Recovery Compass is essentially an upgrade of the regular compass. Therefore, players need to craft it first. To do so, place 4 iron ingots and redstone dust in the crafting grid in a cross pattern, with the redstone dust in the center. Additionally, regular compasses can be purchased from chests in Fortresses, Shipwrecks, Villages, and Strongholds.
2. How to Use the Recovery Compass in Minecraft 1.19
The Recovery Compass in Minecraft 1.19 only functions when players have previously died. Otherwise, it will spin randomly. This is a major quality-of-life update for Minecraft, as players previously needed Tombstone Mods to easily locate their death positions.
