Pineapple and lotus flower decorations made from stunning candies not only last long but also bring warmth to the family altar for welcoming the New Year.
1. Making Pineapple
Ingredients:
- 4 packs of yellow hard candies (lemon soda flavor)
- 1 roll of 2cm wide green ribbon
- 1 round plastic container approximately 18cm tall, with a diameter of approximately 10cm
- 1 piece of sturdy cardboard
- 1 strand of green embroidery thread
- 1 roll of double-sided tape
- 1 small push pin, scissors
- 1 roll of transparent tape
Instructions:
- Take a piece of sturdy cardboard and roll it into a sharp cone shape, matching the diameter of the base to the recessed part of the plastic jar. Use transparent tape to secure the cone shape.
- For the Oishi candies to make pineapple shapes, fold them into triangular shapes at the candy ends. Make sure to fold the end with the lettering and fold it inward. Then use a push pin to maintain the pointed triangular shape at the candy end. Repeat for all candies prepared.
- Cut the ribbon into pointed pieces with the following quantities:
+ Use 4-5 pieces with a length of approximately 8 cm (including the pointed end) to stick to the tip.
+ Use 15 pieces with a length of approximately 10 cm to stick for the next 2-3 layers below the tip.
+ Use 20 pieces with a length of approximately 12 cm to stick for the last 2 layers.

- Arrange 4-5 pieces of the shortest plastic ribbon, with the curved part facing inward, then use transparent tape to fix them onto the paper cone core to create the pineapple leaves.

- To create the layers of young pineapple leaves, use various lengths of ribbon. Pull the ribbon strips and stick them onto the adhesive tape, pressing them onto the paper core to create a spiral shape.

- Next, use double-sided tape to wrap around and cover the entire plastic bottle.
- When sticking the candy rings, peel off the tape on the corresponding ring. Avoid peeling off in advance to prevent the tape from getting dusty and losing its stickiness! Stick the candies in the next layer staggered from the previous layer, and once completing a ring, secure it with transparent tape to ensure the candies stay in place for a long time without falling off.

- Finally, use green thread to cover the bottle cap. The green thread adds sparkle to the pineapple, while also hiding the bottle cap.
- With this method of making pineapple from Oishi candy, you can confidently decorate the altar on Tet without worrying about it getting spoiled!
2. Making Lotus Flowers
Ingredients:
- 5 packs of Oishi candy in various flavors (each flavor has a different color)
- 2 rolls of double-sided tape
- 1 roll of textured white tape
- 1 small push pin (for pinning the candies)
- 1 plastic bowl (small or large depending on the size of the flower you want to make)

– Place the bowl snugly onto a plate, optionally secure it with tape.
– Use candies in three colors: yellow, red, and green, corresponding to lemon soda, chilled lychee, and watermelon flavors respectively.
– Then, use a pin to attach both ends of one candy together, mimicking the shape shown (remember to fold along the candy's length to ensure it sits flat on the bowl when attached).
– Once all candies are pinned, begin attaching them to the bowl to form flowers. This step requires a bit of finesse to ensure the candies are evenly spaced apart.

– First, attach the yellow candies to create the flower centers.

– Next, use the red candies to form the flower petals. Take a candy and attach it around the edge of the bowl, creating about 5 circles depending on the size of your bowl and the number of candies you have.

– Finally, use the green candies to attach the last circle.
– If the candy bowl has candies sticking out, use small white adhesive tape and wrap it around to help keep the candies in place according to your preference.
