Crafting the Strawberry Basil Soda
– Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine diced strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to create the strawberry syrup mixture.
– Step 2: Pour a spoonful of the syrup and strawberries into a glass. Add a few finely torn basil leaves and use a Muddle stick to blend.
– Step 3: Add ice to fill the glass. Pour over with carbonated water and garnish with fresh strawberries. Stir and savor!

Tips and Tricks
Soaking strawberries for at least 4 hours helps preserve the delicious freshness of the fruit; however, the wait can be lengthy. To expedite syrup creation, you can simmer finely ground fruit with basil leaves, lemon, vanilla, equal parts sugar, and water.
Simmering on the stove (5 to 8 minutes, plus cooling time at room temperature) is sufficient to enhance the flavors of the fruit and herbs while maintaining their vibrant freshness, without the need for overnight soaking.

Afterward, you can strain the cooled syrup mixture to remove seeds and pulp before blending it into a glass with carbonated water. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Wishing you all success!
