Unlike other DPS characters in Honkai: Star Rail, Topaz excels at setting up devastating follow-up attacks. This necessitates a synergistic team with frequent follow-up strikers, along with reliable buffers, shielders, and healers. Here are some team compositions to consider for your current Topaz lineup.

The DPS Squad
Topaz, a Hunter character, possesses an inherent weakness in lacking AOE capabilities. Her damage is solely single-target, unable to swiftly handle swarms of smaller enemies without the help of her trusty pig, Numby. Hence, unless building Topaz as a hyper carry or facing bosses without summoning minions, it's advisable to pair her with a DPS possessing superior AOE abilities to handle all situations with ease.
Clara

The reigning champion of follow-up strikes in Honkai: Star Rail is none other than Clara (actually, it's Mr. Svarog). These follow-up strikes also boast AOE damage, addressing Topaz's weaknesses against multiple enemies. Therefore, Clara is the best companion for Topaz in any scenario requiring a 2-DPS lineup.
However, Clara's drawback lies in her reliance on enemies to deal damage. This sometimes leads to fluctuating total damage output depending on the 'intelligence' of foes. Nevertheless, Topaz + Clara remains the most ideal duo at present.
Kafka

While Kafka only has a single follow-up effect, it's one of the most stable and easily activated effects in the game. Specifically, Kafka's talent automatically triggers a follow-up strike after an ally performs a basic attack. Therefore, you only need to focus on using a basic attack once per turn to ensure Kafka's effect activates, thereby boosting Numby's speed.
If you're considering using this lineup, Mytour suggests prioritizing Topaz and treating Kafka as supplementary damage source, doubling as a speed booster for Numby. Building Kafka with a crit focus (simply swapping attack gear for crit gear) may yield greater benefits due to limited slots for DOT support characters.
Jing Yuan

If you're tired of seeing General Jing Yuan being dubbed 'Mid Yuan' by others, Topaz will transform this character into 'King Yuan' with her buff effect. A significant portion of Jing Yuan's damage comes from follow-up strikes of the War Deity, thus he'll greatly benefit from Topaz's debuff. This duo will deal extremely high single-target damage, especially potent in boss battles.
However, it's important to note that while Topaz buffs Jing Yuan significantly, Jing Yuan doesn't reciprocate the same for Topaz. This is because the War Deity acts infrequently, resulting in Numby not receiving as much acceleration as in the cases of Clara and Blade. Additionally, Jing Yuan also requires buffs from other characters such as Asta's speed or Tingyun's energy, posing a threat to Topaz's position.

These are the characters you can use in a Topaz team, but their effectiveness is not high. Mytour includes this article simply for you to understand their pros and cons.
Blade + Jingliu Combo: What's the Deal?
After going through the list above, some gamers might wonder: what about the Topaz + Blade + Jingliu combo? On paper, this seems like a decent lineup because Jingliu can leech life from Blade, aiding in continuous follow-up strikes. Both Topaz and Jingliu also don't require many skill points.

However, according to Mytour, this is a very difficult and ineffective team. Firstly, Topaz has no synergy with Jingliu, who is used to buff Blade, and Blade buffs Topaz - it's too convoluted and wasteful. Replacing Topaz with a support character will result in much greater damage.
Additionally, healers will have to endure Blade and Jingliu's bleeding effects, along with damage from monsters. It will require a lot of skill points, forcing gamers to tighten their belts with Topaz's skills and rely on randomness rather than deciding the next target to debuff.
What about Himeko?
One common query among Honkai gamers is whether Topaz is a good teammate for Himeko, and does Himeko shine brighter with Topaz by her side?

According to Mytour, the answer is both yes and no. Yes, because Topaz is a character capable of buffing subsequent attacks, significantly enhancing Himeko's damage output. However, Topaz's buff effect is single-target, whereas Himeko's subsequent attacks hit multiple foes simultaneously. When facing bosses, Himeko becomes harder to utilize due to reliance on exploiting weaknesses.
Overall, a team composition consisting of Himeko + Topaz + Asta + healer can perform well when farming materials or relics and is decent in battles against 'mini-bosses' with numerous fire-weak minions. However, it may struggle in events like Memorial Arena or high-difficulty content.
Supporting Characters
After finding a secondary DPS for Topaz, you still have two slots in the team dedicated to support and recovery.
- Asta: One of the best teammates for Topaz, especially in teams with 2 DPS. This is because Asta's speed buff affects the entire team (except Numby).
- Silver Wolf: She can apply fire weaknesses to enemies, making Topaz a viable option even when foes lack fire weaknesses. Additionally, her ability to reduce enemy defense is very useful.
- Tingyun: Provides powerful buff effects, energy restoration, and significant Thunder damage if 'studied' adequately. However, being a single-target character, you'll have to decide whom to buff and omit in team compositions where Topaz doesn't act as the hyper carry.

- Pela: Pela's ability to reduce enemy defenses is always highly appreciated in any team composition. If Topaz is the sole DPS in the team, it might be a bit wasteful, but if there's another AOE DPS, then Pela is a must-have.
- Fu Xuan: The number one choice when you need someone to keep your Topaz team alive. Not only does she soak up damage for teammates and resist debuffs, but she also buffs critical hit rates for the team!
- March 7th: Can be used if you're confident in your team's survivability because although March 7th deals many subsequent attacks, she can only protect 2 characters and requires a considerable skill point investment.

These are not all the options available, but just suggestions that you can utilize. Be confident in experimenting with the characters in your roster to find the best Topaz team build for yourself!
Conclusion
With the information above, Honkai gamers must have found a formidable lineup for Topaz, the 'debt collector' of the Peaceful Planetary Federation Company. If you have any questions or opinions to share, don't hesitate to leave a comment at the end of the article or on Mytour's Discord server.
