Step 1: Open the Word file you want to set a Password for. Select File from the menu.
Step 2: Go to the Info tab → Protect Document → Encrypt with Password
Step 3: Enter a password to protect your Word file.
Step 4: Confirm the password.
Step 5: Once you've completed the aforementioned steps, select Save to preserve the password for your Word file.
Now, when you open your Word file with the newly set password, it will prompt you to enter the correct password before allowing access. Without it, the file remains inaccessible. Your Word document is now securely protected.
Microsoft's Word, part of the Office suite, enjoys widespread use. However, due to its relatively high commercial price, users often transition to OpenOffice and LibreOffice. Both alternatives offer Word-compatible file formats. Securing a Word file with a password in LibreOffice closely mirrors the process in OpenOffice and Microsoft Word. The interface may differ slightly, but the fundamentals remain the same.
