Download and install the latest version of Paint.NET from this link: Paint Download
Choose Drop Shadow from the menu Effects\Object\Drop Shadow as illustrated below.
Add text to the image before applying the effect.
Open an image and add text by going to the menu Layers --> Add New Layer.
Click on the Tool -->Text and enter your text.
Go to the Effects menu --> Object and choose Drop Shadow to open the dialog box as illustrated.
Apply shadow to the text.
First, choose the shadow color from the color palette. Drag the square on the color palette to select the shadow color. Drag the slider on the right to adjust the intensity of the color.
- Adjust the offset bars left and right to change the shadow position. Drag offset X to move the shadow to the left (closer/further from the text). Drag offset Y to move the shadow up and down.
In the options dialog, you'll find the Blur Radius slider. Customize this slider to blur the drop shadow.
Finish creating the drop shadow by clicking the OK button to close the dialog. The result on the image will feature text with a drop shadow as illustrated. Press Ctrl + S to save the image with the drop shadow effect on the text.
