A Guest account, a fascinating feature equipped on the Windows operating system, enables you to limit access to your computer, such as by family members or friends. While creating a Guest account was straightforward with previous Windows versions, it's a tad more challenging with Windows 10. By default, the Guest account is hidden. You need to share the use of your computer with someone while maintaining your privacy. The most effective solution at this moment is to create an additional Guest account. With a Guest account, you can set restricted access rights for users according to your preferences. Although the option to add a Guest account on Windows 10 has been removed, all the necessary elements to create a Guest account are still there. Similar to creating a standard user in Win10, we can utilize Command Prompt in Command Prompt mode to set up and create a Guest account on Windows 10.

To create a Guest account in Windows 10, follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Right-click on Windows Start and select Command Prompt (Admin)

Step 2: Enter the command prompt: net user username /add /active:yes. Then press Enter.

Where “

username” is the name of the Guest account, you can set any other name. For example, if I name the Guest account full_name, the command syntax would be: net user full_name /add /active:yes

Step 3: Once the account is created, you proceed to add a password to the account by entering the command: MK net user *

Where TWC is the password you want to set, you can also set a different password as you wish. However, this is a guest account, so password creation should be left to the user. Press Enter to skip.

Step 4: Now you need to remove the accounts created from the User Group and add it to the Guest group. You perform the sequence, to delete you enter the command: net localgroup users TWC /delete and the command net localgroup guests TWC /add to add. Where “TWC” is the account name.

So, you have completed the process of creating a Guest account on Windows 10. To check if the account has been successfully created, you can check by going to Settings =>Accounts =>Family & other people. At this point, the account you just created will be displayed, indicating that your account creation was successful.

Deleting a Guest account in Windows 10

If you wish to delete any Guest account, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Settings and select Accounts

Step 2: In the Accounts window, click on Family & other people

Step 3: On the right side of the Family & other people window, pay attention to the Other People section, where a list of Guest accounts you have previously created will be displayed. Click on the account you want to remove and press Remove.

The account as well as all its data will be completely removed from the system.
