In online teaching, educators often use Gmail and social media for assignment distribution and collection. However, these methods pose challenges in control, tracking, storage, and especially confusion. To address this, educators can Utilize Google Forms to create and collect assignments, supporting online teaching and learning.
* Untitled Form (Form Title): Assign a name to the form for easy identification among others. For instance, Homework Submission Form for Week 8.
* Form Description: Provide a more detailed description for the form. For example, for the subject Mathematics, Grade 5.
Teachers can add additional questions as needed by clicking the 'Plus Icon.' For example, creating a class session (Arrow 1) will format the question as a multiple-choice for students to choose. Teachers provide options at Option 1, Option 2, (Arrow 2)....
Afterwards, teachers click on 'Required' if they want students to answer, ensuring completion of the submission form only when students have viewed and filled it out.
For easier categorization, teachers can create additional questions with group names, ID numbers, and phone numbers.
Step 3: The previous step covered information input, and now in this step, teachers create questions for students to submit assignments. Teachers click on the question formatting section.
Next, teachers click on 'File Upload.'
Step 4: Google will display an authentication notification; teachers click on 'Continue' to proceed.
Step 5: Teachers input submission instructions under 'Question
Then click on 'Description'.
For instance, if teachers want to remind about the submission deadline, they can write it in the 'Description' section that Google just displayed.
Teachers can also format the file submission by enabling 'Allow only specific file types' mode.
Now, Google presents various file formats for teachers to choose from (Arrow 1). In the Maximum Number of Files section, teachers can select 1, 5, or 10 as desired (Arrow 2). In the Maximum File Size section, teachers can choose according to their needs, ranging from 1MB to 10GB (Arrow 3).
In the This Form Can Accept Up to 1 GB of Files section, meaning all student uploads should not exceed 1GB. To modify, teachers click on 'Change'. Below, teachers click on '1GB' to make a new suitable selection (Arrow 1), then in the top right corner, click on 'Save' (Arrow 2).
Step 6: If teachers want to adjust a few settings, scroll up and click on the Settings icon (gear icon).
Step 6: If teachers wish to tweak some parameters, scroll upwards and click on the Settings icon (gear symbol).
In the settings section, instructors should click on 'Collect email addresses' and then proceed to click on 'Response receipts'. Instructors review and customize according to the items below such as Requires sign in, Respondents can, etc. Next, look at the upper right corner, click on 'Save'.
Step 7: To make the form more visually appealing, click on the color icon as shown below.
Instructors click on 'Choose image' for selecting images.
Images will appear, instructors choose the appropriate theme in the 'Themes' section (Arrow 1), then select an image that matches the theme (Arrow 2), and finally click on 'Insert' (Arrow 3).
Step 8: To submit assignments, instructors click on 'Send'.
Click on the Link symbol.
Instructors looking to shorten the link can click on 'Shorten URL'.
Afterward, click on 'Copy' and then send that link to their students.

When students submit assignments through the Google Forms you create, the submissions are automatically stored on Google Drive, making it easy for instructors to control the number of student submissions and track the learning process.
