Step 1: To create borders around Word 2021, 2019, and 2016, click on the Design tab and then choose Page Borders. This is the section that helps us easily create borders around Word, and it's the only way to do it. You'll use this tool frequently, so remember your selection.
Note:
For those using Word 2010, 2007, creating borders around Word is slightly different in the first step. Press Page Layout and choose Page Borders instead of Design as in the above versions to create borders around Word.
As for those using Word 2003, creating borders around Word is also slightly different in the first step. Press Format > choose Borders and Shading
Step 2: Next, create borders for the frame in Word 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, 2003 by selecting the Borders section with the following information:
- Settings: Choose the display style of the border with Box, Shadow, 3-D, Custom.
- Style: Choose the display style of the border such as line 1, 2, 3, or dashed line depending on the creator's preference for borders around Word 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, 2003.
Step 3: And after some exploration with the Borders section, the result will look like the image below.
Step 4: To create borders around Word 2019, 2016, 2013, we need to go to the Page Border section with precise parameters. However, there's a parameter called Art that allows users to create borders with diverse shapes. Also, if you want to apply it to every text in the file, choose Apply to Whole Document.

Step 5: If you only want to create borders around Word for the current page, choose Apply to This Section - First page only.

Step 1: Open the Word file you want to create a frame => Select Insert => Choose Shape => Choose the icon you want.
Step 2: Right-click on the selected frame => Choose Format Shape.
Step 3: To edit the background color within the frame, in the Fill section => choose the Color part => choose the inverted triangle icon = Choose the color you want and you're done.
Step 4: To edit the border color of the frame, in the Line section => in the Color part => choose the inverted triangle icon = Choose the color you want and you're done.
Step 5: In the Line section, you can choose the border for the frame by selecting the Compound type section.
Step 6: You can choose the size for the border in the Width section.
2.2. For Word 2010 and 2007
Step 1: Open the Word file, select Insert => Choose Shapes => Choose the desired frame.
Step 2: Select right-click and the frame => Choose Format Shape....
