Follow the steps below to create a macOS installation USB on Windows 10:
Step 1: Insert the USB drive into your Windows computer and move or delete any data on the device to free up space before proceeding with the macOS installation USB creation steps.
Step 2: Download and install the TransMac application.
To download and install the TransMac application, visit: Download TransMac
TransMac is a premium application, however, it does offer a 15-day free trial. So if you frequently create macOS USB installers on a Windows PC, you'll need to pay a fee to purchase and continue using the application in the future.
After downloading TransMac, double-click the setup file to run and install the application on your computer.
Step 3: Run TransMac as an Administrator. To do this, type TransMac in the Search box on the Start Menu, right-click on TransMac in the search results list, and select Run as administrator.
Now, a TransMac Trial dialog box will appear on the screen, click Run button.
Alternatively, you can navigate to the TransMac section on the Start Menu, right-click on it, and choose Run as administrator.
Step 4: Once TransMac is launched, on the left panel of the program, you will see your USB drive displayed there. Right-click on the USB drive, select the Format Disk for Mac option.
A warning dialog box will appear on the screen, click Yes to proceed.
This is because if you've used the USB flash drive on the Windows operating system, chances are the USB drive is using the MBR partition. So your task is to partition the USB drive with GPT partition before transferring the DMG file to the USB drive.
Step 5: Click Yes to open the Format Drive for Mac dialog box, where you'll need to enter the name for your USB drive. If creating a macOS Mojave installer, you can name the installer drive Mojave.
If a warning appears on the screen, click Yes to proceed with formatting the USB drive.
Step 6: After the formatting process completes, right-click on the USB drive again, select the Restore with disc image option.
Click Yes if a warning dialog box appears on the screen.
Step 7: Click Yes to open the Restore Disk Image to Drive dialog box. In the Disk image to restore section, click the small drive icon button as shown below to browse for the macOS Mojave DMG file. Select your DMG file, then click Open.
Finally, click OK.
Step 8: If a warning dialog box appears on the screen, click Yes to start the macOS installer creation process. This process may take up to 30 minutes or longer.
Finally, after creating the macOS installer USB drive, you can plug the USB drive into your Mac and begin installing macOS Mojave or any other macOS version.
