For every topic, thesis, or scientific research report, numerous reference materials and citation reports are required. However, manually citing documents after completing a project can consume a considerable amount of time. This article shares how to create References - Standardizing Reference Citations in Word.
Step 1: Go to the References tab and select Insert Citation -> Add New Source:

Step 2: The Create Source dialogue box appears in the section:



After successfully creating the citation, click Insert Citation to see the newly created citation displayed.

Similarly, to create a citation for another document, such as a quote from investment genius Warren Buffett:

Step 5: After completing the content to be cited, create citations for the referenced content. Place the mouse cursor after the content to be cited, go to the References tab, click Insert Citation -> Add New Source -> Select the corresponding citation for the content to be cited.

The citation has been successfully created.

Apply the same process to the remaining citations in your document:

Step 6: Create a bibliography for the document.
After citing, create a bibliography for the document. Place the mouse cursor where you want to create the bibliography -> Go to the References tab, click Bibliography -> Insert Bibliography:

You have successfully created a bibliography for the document to be cited. You can choose a different Style for the bibliography by clicking Style -> select the desired display style:

All cited documents successfully displayed in the catalog are marked in the Source Manager:

In case you need to edit a citation -> click on the citation to edit -> choose Edit:

For example, here you can edit the year from 2018 to 2020:

A confirmation dialog box appears, press Yes:

Returning to the created document catalog, you notice that the year edit has not been updated. Right-click on the created document catalog -> select Update Field:

The result, the reference document catalog has been updated:
