Preparation:
- Latest version of iTunes: Download iTunes here.
- Download the desired song to use as a ringtone on your computer.
- Connect your iPhone to your computer using a cable.
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your computer via a USB signal cable.
Step 2: Open the folder containing the song you want to use as a ringtone, drag and drop that song into the Library section as shown below.
Step 3: The iTunes interface appears, here you select Songs in the left column, then right-click on the song you want to set as the iPhone ringtone and choose Song Info.
Step 4: The song information window appears, switch to the Options tab then select the start and stop time for the ringtone in the Start and Stop section to cut the ringtone from that song. It's best to listen to the song first to know where to cut from. Then, press the OK button.
Step 5: Next, on the iTunes interface, click on File in the top left corner menu of iTunes, select Convert > Create AAC Version.
Step 6: Now iTunes will convert the selected song into a new song right below the corresponding original song with the time you just created. Right-click on the new song and select Show in Windows Explorer
Step 7: The folder containing the newly created song opens up. However, this file is in the m4a format, while the format for making iPhone ringtones must be m4r. So you need to change the extension from *.m4a to *.m4r to match.
To rename, simply right-click on the file and select Rename and change m4a to m4r.
A prompt will appear asking if you really want to rename it. Press Yes to confirm the change.

Step 8: Return to iTunes, right-click on the music file you just created earlier and select Show in Windows Explorer
Step 9: Click on Locate in the small dialog box that appears
Step 10: Navigate to the folder containing the renamed music file earlier and select Open.
Step 11: Back in iTunes, click on your device icon as shown below
Step 12: Here, scroll down and find the Options section. Check the box for Manually manage music and videos and click Apply.
Step 13: Press Sync and Replace to synchronize the device with the computer
Step 14: Open the folder containing the renamed music file earlier, drag and drop this song into the On My Device section as shown below
Click on the Tones section in On My Device, you will see the ringtone displayed here.
Finally, on your phone, access Settings >Sound >Ring tones and tap on the name of the new ringtone to set it as the ringtone.
