There are many free hosting providers in the market, and Hostinger is one of them. The most outstanding feature of Hostinger is its support for Vietnamese. Check out how to set up WordPress on Hostinger in the article below by Mytour.
Setting up WordPress on Hostinger
Step 1: Download the latest version of WordPress here: Download WordPress
Step 2: In this guide, Mytour uses Hostinger UK. Visit the HERE and sign up for an account using your email, Google account, or Facebook account.
Step 3: After signing up, go to the Home page, click on New Hosting, and select the free server.
Step 4: On the Enter Domain and Password page, choose the type of subdomain. Enter your domain name, subdomain name, and password for your website.
Choose a password that is easy to remember but hard to guess, ensuring it meets all the criteria of a strong id, nickname, username to keep your data secure.
Step 5: Enter the CAPTCHA, check the box next to I agree to the terms and conditions, then click Order.
Step 6: Next, you will be redirected back to the control panel of your active website. Click on the website you just created, then go to Manage => Files => FTP Access and copy the FTP Host, username, and password you created when setting up the website.
Note: This is not the password you used to register your account; it is the password you created in step 4.
Then download and install ClassicFTP from here: Download ClassicFTP
Step 7: Open the ClassicFTP program. If the window does not open, click on the Connect button at the top corner.
Fill in the information in the following fields:
- FTP Server: is ftp.yourwebsite.subdomain.maindomain.
- Username: your login name.
- Port: always 21.
- Password: your password.
Step 8: Next, click on the Add Site button located at the bottom corner.
Click on OK on the pop-up window displayed on the screen.
Upload your public_html file. This step is extremely important; uploading other files may lead to different issues.
Delete the default.php file (not the .htaccess file), and drag everything directly from your WordPress installation performed in step 1 (even the readme.txt file) into the public_html file. This process may take some time.
Step 9: While waiting for the default.php file to be deleted, you can create an SQL account. If you are still on the FTP page, on the left panel, access Databases =>MySQL Databases.
Enter the information there. Note that special characters should not be used.
Step 10: Once the upload process is complete, ensure you disconnect. This is extremely important.
Open any browser on your computer and access your website. It will display a notification page prompting you to create a configuration file. You can skip this page and proceed with other steps. Enter the MySQL database, username, and password into the corresponding fields.
Step 11: Now you've completed the installation, the next step is to run the WordPress installation on Hostinger. Fill in all the fields and then click Install WordPress.
Step 12: After successfully creating WordPress with Hostinger, you'll see your username on the screen. Click Log in to access your own website.
