Cúc Phương secures the top spot as the best Asian national park in 2023 by the World Travel Awards. For five consecutive years, Cúc Phương has dominated this category. Other contenders included Chitwan National Park in Nepal, Fuji-Hakone-Izu in Japan, Kinabalu in Malaysia, Komodo in Indonesia, Minneriya in Sri Lanka, and Taman Negara in Malaysia.

Cúc Phương National Park is situated 120km south of the capital, Hanoi, nestled within the Tam Diep mountain range. According to the Ninh Binh Tourism Department, Cúc Phương National Park was established on July 7th, 1962, spanning over three provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa, covering an area of over 22,000 hectares.

This evergreen tropical rainforest, Cúc Phương National Park, boasts over 2,200 species of higher plants and mosses, 122 species of reptiles and amphibians, 66 species of fish, nearly 2,000 species of insects, and 135 species of mammals. Among them, the white-cheeked gibbon stands out as a beautiful and rare primate chosen as the emblem of Cúc Phương. Late April to May marks the butterfly season, attracting thousands of tourists to flock in to witness millions of butterflies in the forest.
