Step 1: Press the Windows + R key combination to open the Run window and type gpedit.msc then press Enter.
Step 2: In the Local Group Policy Editor window, navigate to the Pin Complexity folder via the following path
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Hello for Business > PIN Complexity
Step 3: In the Pin Complexity section, you can find settings to customize Windows 10 PIN, increase or decrease PIN length such as:
Require digits: mandates the presence of numeric characters in the PIN code
Require lowercase letters: necessitates inclusion of lowercase letters in the PIN code
Maximum PIN length: maximum length of the PIN characters
Minimum PIN length: minimum length of the PIN characters
Expiration: validity period of the PIN
History: disallows reuse of previously used PIN codes
Require special characters: requires inclusion of special characters
You can adjust the PIN length from a minimum of 4 characters to a maximum of 127 characters. Double-click on both Maximum PIN length and Minimum PIN length to customize Windows 10 PIN.
Step 4: In the window to customize the maximum PIN length, check the Enable box to activate this feature. Then enter the maximum number of PIN characters in the Maximum PIN length box below and click OK to complete.
Step 5: Similar to setting the maximum PIN length, you can customize the Windows 10 PIN, minimum number of characters in the Minimum PIN length section.
Note: You cannot customize Windows 10 PIN with a minimum PIN length equal to or greater than the maximum PIN length or a maximum PIN length less than or equal to the minimum length. If you set the maximum PIN length to 20, you can only set the minimum PIN length from 4 to 19 characters.
Step 6: After customizing Windows 10 PIN, you can go to the Settings dialog (Windows + I) to set up a secure Windows 10 PIN with your preferred length.
