
Cyberpunk 2077 Officially Surpasses Witcher 3 Thanks to Exceptional Phantom Liberty Expansion
Recently, CD Projekt Red unveiled the latest revenue figures for Cyberpunk 2077 following the highly successful launch of the Phantom Liberty expansion. Henceforth, The Witcher 3 is no longer their most successful game.Speaking at a recent event, CD Projekt's Chairman and CEO Adam Kiciński announced a new milestone for Cyberpunk 2077. Specifically, the game has sold an additional 5 million copies since September 2022. Kiciński also added that Cyberpunk 2077 reached the milestone of 25 million copies sold after 2 years and 10 months, whereas The Witcher 3 took about 4 and a half years to achieve this.Regarding the Phantom Liberty expansion, out of the 3 million copies sold, 68% were on PC, 20% on PS5, and 13% on Xbox X/S. CD Projekt Red also disclosed that this standalone expansion cost them around 62.7 million USD to develop and an additional 21.6 million USD to market.
