History of Da Lat Station
The railway station was constructed over 80 years ago by two French architects, Revéron and Moncet. It was one of the first railway lines in Vietnam connecting Da Lat to Phan Rang.
The station construction began in 1932 and was officially inaugurated in 1938. Due to wartime incidents, the railway line suffered severe damage in 1972. Over three years after liberation, the station's railway was fully restored.

However, the Da Lat station now only serves as a tourist destination. Currently, this railway line is no longer used for freight transportation as before.
As of the present moment, Da Lat only operates 4 train carriages to Trai Mat, with 1 locomotive. Despite the ups and downs of history, the station has been recognized by the government as a “National Cultural Heritage Site”.
Architecture of Da Lat Station
Due to its construction during the French colonial period, the station's architecture bears a strong European style. Inspired by the majestic Langbiang mountain range of Da Lat, the station is designed with three distinctive pointed roofs aligned in a straight line. The station's length is 66.5 meters, width 11.4 meters, and height 11 meters, with a uniquely curved vaulted roof inspired by the Tay Nguyen communal houses. The station was once dubbed the “Legendary Railway of Indochina” due to its massive construction scale.
Due to the challenging high mountainous terrain, the railway had to stretch over 84 kilometers, passing through a total of 5 tunnels. Additionally, the use of cogwheel tracks further distinguishes this railway line.
