One of the renowned gaming series, Dark Souls, appears to be undergoing an anime adaptation.
Recently, GiantFreakinRobot announced the production of an anime adaptation based on the popular video game Dark Souls. Known as an action role-playing game, it features captivating and visually stunning 3D graphics.
Dark Souls is a trilogy of electronic games developed by Fromsoftware Games and published by Bandai Namco. It is also regarded as one of the best electronic game franchises of all time.
Dark Souls is set in a fictional medieval fantasy world named Lordran. Lordran is filled with Dragons, Knights, Kings, and Demons, including various other supernatural creatures. It is known as the land of the ancient Lords, home to the four Lords of Cinder. Each installment of the series has a different storyline, but they all take place in Lordran and incorporate elements from the game.
Players will need to progressively defeat monsters, powerful bosses with high damage and health points multiple times that of the main character, to complete quests aimed at reclaiming their own soul.
When the game was released in 2011, it immediately became a sensation and won the 'Game of the Year' award. The Dark Souls series is renowned for its notoriously difficult gameplay, similar to Elden Ring and Sekiro, all referred to as the 'Soul series'. These games are known for their high difficulty, complex mechanics, and are enough to make even the most seasoned gamers feel tense while playing them.
According to insider sources, Netflix is set to produce an anime adaptation of this game following the success of Cyberpunk 2077's adaptation with “Cyberpunk Edgerunners”. There's still no official release date for the Dark Souls anime. An official announcement regarding the Dark Souls anime is expected in a few months.
As Dark Souls was developed by a Japanese studio, it's highly likely that the animated adaptation will be produced by a Japanese studio under Netflix.
