(Homeland) - Initial deployment phase reaching 10,000 households and businesses in several provinces and cities.
Announcement on May 31 by Nokia stated that the company has collaborated with VNPT to deploy the infrastructure for the first 10 Gbps optical fiber in Vietnam. Initial deployment phase reaching 10,000 households and businesses in several provinces and cities.

Customers will utilize VNPT's existing optical fiber infrastructure, while Nokia will provide optical access nodes for the switchboard and optical modems to connect to the end-users' private residences.
According to Nokia representatives, the solution provided by the company includes the high-capacity access node technology Nokia 7360-FX Lightspan and Quillion chipset, enabling the network to offer customers the option to improve network access speeds up to 10 Gbps without the need for new optical fiber installation.
7360-FX Lightspan is a high-capacity access node, capable of connecting thousands of users through the optical fiber environment. The Quillion chipset has the ability to support various passive optical network (PON) technologies and allows multiple technologies to operate on a single fiber, with energy consumption only 50% of previous-generation chipsets.
Upon deployment, the 10 Gbps network transmission will be the highest speed achieved by the Internet network in Vietnam. However, the network provider notes that despite the substantial bandwidth, the actual speed depends on the limitations of the end devices.
Vietnam aims to have 84% of households using optical fiber by 2023. By the end of the first quarter, 75.36% of households were using optical fiber, a 6.46% increase compared to the same period last year. The fixed broadband Internet speed in Vietnam, according to Speedtest statistics, is 92.51 Mbps in April, ranking 41st globally.
