Besides the common snowflake, water droplet, and fan symbols that everyone knows, air conditioner displays sometimes show many other unfamiliar symbols. So, do users understand the meanings of these symbols?
1. Deciphering Unfamiliar Symbols on Air Conditioner Controls
Besides the common symbols like snowflake, water droplet, and fan icon, on the air conditioner screen, there are often many other strange symbols. So, do users know the meanings of these symbols?
In fact, each air conditioner brand has its own functions and symbols on the control panel, but basically, the symbols on the control panel are similar. However, besides common symbols like snowflake, water droplet, and fan, there are often many other unfamiliar symbols on the control screen that not everyone knows about. For those who have used air conditioners before, they are probably familiar with symbols like snowflake (Cool), water droplet (Dry), and AUTO/3 arrows forming a triangle (auto mode).
Auto Mode:
The air conditioner will automatically adjust the temperature and fan speed to suit the room temperature using the built-in sensor. If the air conditioner is set to this mode, the control screen will display AUTO or a symbol of 3 arrows forming a triangle.
The symbol for auto mode is 3 arrows forming a triangle
Cool Mode:
In this mode, the air conditioner will provide you with a refreshing airflow, not too cold or too hot. You can adjust the fan speed and temperature as desired. Note that if the outside temperature is too high compared to the room temperature, it will affect the cooling efficiency of the machine. When set to Cool mode, the control screen will display a snowflake icon.
Selecting Cool mode will display a snowflake icon on the screen
Dry Mode:
The machine will remove excess moisture from the room, providing you with the freshest air. The fan speed in this mode is set automatically and cannot be adjusted. When set to Dry mode, the screen will display a water droplet icon.
A water droplet icon will appear when selecting Dry mode
In addition to common symbols, sometimes the control screen displays very unfamiliar symbols like:
Waning Moon Symbol:
Appears when pressing the ECONO button on the control. This activates the energy-saving function. To turn off this function, simply press the ECONO button again. Doing so will also automatically remove the waning moon symbol from the control screen.

Fan Symbol:
This symbol appears when pressing the FAN button. It activates the fan speed adjustment function of the air conditioner. When this button is pressed sequentially, the control panel will display the fan speed, and it also includes automatic mode and high-speed (symbol on the screen is a vertical bar chart with 3 bars), medium-speed (symbol is a vertical bar chart with 2 bars), low-speed (symbol is a square triangle).

Sun Symbol:
This symbol will appear on the control screen when selecting the heating mode (only available on two-way air conditioners).

Pine Tree Symbol:
This symbol represents the Health function - it almost only appears on modern air conditioners. This function activates the air ionizer in the air conditioner, acting as a high-speed air purifier to remove dust from the air. In addition, modern technology air conditioners also help to capture bacteria, and even viruses, and retain them in the filter membrane.

Four-petal flower symbol:
When activating the X-Fan function (fan blow), the fan will continue to run for about 10 minutes after turning off the air conditioner to dry the system and increase the lifespan of the machine.

Water faucet symbol:
This symbol automatically appears. When the screen displays the water faucet symbol, it means that the machine filter needs to be cleaned, and it usually appears after about 200 hours of use.
