Even with Sony, a Japanese electronics brand that seldom discounts products, several models have seen significant price adjustments. An example is the X8000G model, now priced at 32 million VND for the 75-inch version. This product becomes the most affordable 4K TV ever from Sony in Vietnam, with the actual price dropping by almost 40% compared to the previous listing of nearly 49.8 million VND.
The higher-end 4K model from Sony, 75X8500G, is also following the trend. As of mid-March, the 75-inch model has dropped below 40 million VND. Around the same time last year, its predecessor, the X8500F 75-inch model, was still being sold for over 50 million VND.
Currently, the market in Vietnam has an overwhelming number of 75-inch 4K TVs, prompting manufacturers to reduce prices for competition. Statistics from an electronics store in Hanoi show that there are 40 models of 75-inch TVs available, more than double compared to last year and twice as many as two years ago. In the price range of 30 million VND, there are nearly 10 options from 5 different brands.
In early 2020, market research firm IHS Market predicted a significant decrease in the prices of large-sized 65 to 75-inch 4K TVs throughout this year. The reason lies in the decreasing production costs of large-sized LCD panels. IHS Market also predicts that the sales of 75-inch and larger TVs in 2020 will double compared to last year, reaching a 7% market share, particularly in the United States.
