Prior to the 9th week of matches in LCK Spring 2023, Dplus KIA (DK) harbored high hopes of defeating T1. This optimism stemmed from their three-week winning streak, showcasing prowess across various roles. However, when DK confronted T1, the former World Championship victors swiftly secured a 0-2 victory against Faker and his teammates.
In the post-match interview, player Deft openly acknowledges the substantial gap between them and T1. T1 not only outperformed DK in gameplay execution but also in strategic team composition. Deft emphasizes the necessity for significant improvements if they wish to stand a chance against T1.
“After both legs of the match, the chasm between us and T1 remains significant. They handle skirmishes exceptionally well and exhibit superior focus compared to us. Furthermore, T1 consistently enables Zeus to acquire strong champions both in lane dominance and map control. Thus, we need to enhance both our skirmish handling and team composition strategies if we intend to compete with T1.” - Deft shares.
Upon reviewing the recent match, spectators could discern T1's proactive control during the team composition phase. It seems that the team meticulously studied DK, paying special attention to Canna in the Top Lane position. They banned numerous strong laners or counter-picks against this player, forcing Canna into a disadvantaged position against Zeus.
As a consequence, in both encounters with T1, DK consistently faced defeat in the Top Lane position. This allowed them to assert control over the top half of the map and execute Baron takedowns quite effortlessly. Clearly, for a team of T1's caliber, they wouldn't miss such favorable opportunities to snowball and conclude the match.
