How to Remove GoogleUpdate.exe Process After Installing Google Chrome on Windows
Method 1: Disable GoogleUpdate in Windows Firewall
The simplest method is to disable the GoogleUpdate.exe service, blocking it from accessing the Internet in the Firewall program.
Method 2: Disable in System Startup Settings
Step 1: Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog, or you can also press the Start Menu > type msconfig (applicable to Windows 7 and Windows 10).
Use Windows + R > type msconfig
Or press the Start Menu button > type msconfig and click it in the search results.
Step 2: In the System Configuration Utility interface, switch to the Startup tab. For Windows 7, there will be a Startup tab; from Windows 8 onwards, the System Configuration Utility will guide users to configure startup applications through Task Manager. Click on Open Task Manager to proceed.

Step 3: In the Startup section, locate the GoogleUpdate.exe process and uncheck Google Updates to prevent Google Update from automatically starting and updating on Windows 10.

Additionally, you can right-click and select Open File Location to open the folder containing Google Update with the address: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Update
Click on the GoogleUpdate file and delete it. By default, the system will request administrator access to delete it. Press Continues to proceed. If unable to delete, you can use Unlocker software to remove this file.
Right-click on GoogleUpdate and select Delete. Alternatively, you can press Shift + Del to permanently delete it.
Press Yes to confirm deletion.
Press Continue to confirm deletion and complete the file removal process.
Method 3: Disable in Scheduled Task
Step 1: Access Scheduled Task by opening the Start Menu, typing Task Scheduled, and clicking on search (Applies to Windows 7 and Windows 10). For Windows 8 and 8.1, press Ctrl + S or Ctrl Q to search.
Alternatively, you can use the shortcut Windows + R to open the Run dialog box > enter taskschd.msc to open Task Scheduler on your computer.
Additionally, you can open the %windir%Tasks folder via the Run dialog box.
Step 2: In the Scheduled Task interface, click on Task Scheduler Library to open the folder containing pre-programmed tasks on the computer.
Locate the two GoogleUpdates tasks under the Name section, check each item, and press Disable at the bottom corner of the screen to deactivate GoogleUpdate.exe on Windows.
Step 3: In the interface of C:WindowsTasks, find the two GoogleUpdate tasks as shown in the image and proceed to delete them using the Shift + Del key combination. A confirmation message to delete the task files will appear, simply press Continue to delete the two GoogleUpdate task files.
