How to delete WhatsApp messages before the recipient reads them
To delete WhatsApp messages before the recipient reads them, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open the WhatsApp application, then find and long-press the message you want to delete until the options bar appears on the screen.
Step 2: Tap the arrow icon as shown below to navigate, locate and press the Delete option.
Step 3: Next, find and tap the circular icon on the left side of the message to select additional messages you want to delete. Afterward, press the trash can icon in the bottom right corner to delete WhatsApp messages before the recipient reads them.
Step 4: On the screen, options will appear for Delete for Everyone and Delete for me. Choose the first option to delete messages from both sides before the recipient reads them.
Note:
- This feature only deletes messages on newer WhatsApp versions.
- You cannot delete messages sent more than 7 minutes ago.
- When a message is deleted, a notification will appear on the screen indicating the message has been deleted on both sides, including you and the recipient.
