Char siu is a beloved dish but finding a clean and tasty eatery selling it can be challenging. If this is a concern for you, worry not because the simple recipe below will make everything feel straightforward.

Ingredients:
- Pork belly: 1kg
- Hoisin sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Cooking oil: 1 tablespoon
- Five-spice powder: 1 tablespoon
- Char siu powder: 1/2 packet (about 50g)
- Sugar: 1/2 tablespoon
- Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
- White wine: 2 tablespoons
- Ground pepper
- Minced garlic: 1 tablespoon
Instructions:
Step 1: Heat cooking oil in a pan and sauté garlic until fragrant, then let it cool, mix all the above spices in a bowl.
Step 2: Rub salt around the meat then rinse with water to clean, pat dry with paper towel.
Step 3: Put the meat in a bowl and spread the spices evenly over the meat, if there is time, marinate overnight in the refrigerator. If eating on the same day, marinate for 30 minutes to an hour.
Step 4: Put the meat in the rice cooker, pour in 200ml of water, cover the cooker and turn on the rice cooking button and wait for the meat to cook. Depending on whether you like the sauce part of this dish or not, if you don't, reduce the amount of water, just pour in 100ml, the meat will be drier.
Step 5: Wait for the meat to cook, then remove to cool, slice thinly and enjoy.
