Ingredients for savory sandwich sauce
3 lemons = 100 ml lemon juice
2 oranges = 100 ml freshly squeezed orange juice, 150 grams of sugar
2 egg yolks
40 grams of butter
20 grams of cornstarch
1 spoonful of finely grated orange zest (if you like a fragrant taste)
How to make savory sandwich sauce
Step 1: Squeeze the juice from oranges and lemons.
Step 2: Combine lemon and orange juice, sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, and orange zest in a saucepan. Heat over low flame, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens. Add butter and continue stirring for another 3-4 minutes before turning off the heat.
Egg sauce can be used with savory bread, pate egg sandwiches, or even sweet bread for a delicious treat.
Pour the egg sauce into a jar, cover tightly, and store in the refrigerator's cool compartment.
