Previously, only Android devices could utilize the Screen Mirroring feature and file transfer with the Dell Mobile Connect app. The new update now allows you to mirror your iPhone screen and transfer files from iPhone to a Windows 10 PC. These new features are part of the Dell Mobile Connect 3.0 update on the Microsoft Store and App Store.
Here's the complete release notes for Dell Mobile Connect 3.0 for iOS:
- File Transfer: The file transfer feature for photos and videos is now available for iPhone users.
- Mirroring: Image mirroring feature has been added.
- No need to open the Dell Mobile Connect app on your iPhone to send SMS messages.
Dell Mobile Connect has long been one of the very few options to send and receive text messages from your computer if you own an iPhone (Android is 'much more open'. Even Microsoft's Your Phone app only works with Android. But while Mobile Connect has always supported sending and receiving SMS messages, these features above even make the app more impressive than its competitors.
Screen mirroring and file transfer with iPhone often require users to have an Apple computer, using AirPlay and AirDrop. Dell says they don't use Apple's proprietary technologies for this. Additionally, the third feature is important, as previously you needed to open the app to send a text message.
