II. Sample Essay: Description of a Cherished Item
The Old Shoes
Every Sunday, like clockwork, I join my mother in tidying up our home, stowing away unused items into a wooden box in the corner. Each time I open that box, I catch sight of a pair of small shoes that I hold dear. Although those shoes no longer fit, I cherish and treasure them.
My mother bought me those shoes on my very first day of school, as I stepped into the world of education as a first-grader. I vividly recall the moment my mother introduced me to those shoes. I was overjoyed, jumping up and down with excitement, immediately slipping them onto my tiny feet. The petite shoes were a perfect fit for my little feet, adorned with a light sea-blue color and a small, vibrant red flower at the forefront, exuding charm and grace. They featured a small blue strap on top, offering both comfort and security, allowing me to frolic and play without fear of slipping out of my shoes. Made of soft fabric, they were gentle on my feet, with a rubber sole adorned with grooves to prevent slipping. Walking in those shoes felt remarkably elegant, as if they were designed just for me. Every time I wore them, my classmates would shower me with compliments. Once, on a rainy day, the shoes got splattered with mud. I felt distraught, fearing they would be ruined. However, a simple wash restored them to their former glory, pristine and beautiful as ever.
So those shoes have been accompanying me for quite a long time, being a close companion safeguarding my feet throughout my early school years. Even though they no longer fit perfectly, I still cherish them dearly.
