II. Sample Essay Describing the Watermelon
1. Describing Watermelon, Sample #1 (Standard):
Summer is the paradise of various fruits such as lychee, longan, banana, jackfruit, and my favorite, watermelon.
Watermelons come in two common shapes: oval and spherical. They vary in weight, with smaller ones around 1kg and larger ones reaching up to 4kg. As a child, hugging a watermelon can be quite heavy. All watermelons have a green color, with occasional dark green lines that give them a distinctive look. While the exterior may not be very appealing, the inside is visually stunning.
Watermelon is a hydrating fruit, perfect for quenching thirst during the summer. Its sweetness is mild and refreshing, contrasting with the intense sweetness of fruits like jackfruit. It is a favorite in my family due to its hydrating properties and mild, cool flavor.
3. Describing my favorite watermelon, model 3 (Standard):
Today, I had the opportunity to go to the market with my mom to buy some fruits. We stopped at a stall selling watermelons, and my mom began to pick one. There were plenty of watermelons to choose from, ranging from small ones weighing about 1kg to larger ones weighing around 3kg.
My mom selected an oval-shaped watermelon weighing 2.5 kg and brought it home. She mentioned that the darker the color of the watermelon, the sweeter it would be. The stem should still be intact for freshness. The outer rind of the watermelon was quite tough, with a greenish hue, occasionally adorned with mysterious green veins that were even darker. When my mom cut the watermelon open, the inside revealed a vibrant red color. The fleshy part had numerous yellowish veins, giving it a visually appealing touch. Occasionally, black seeds would make an appearance. Seeing me gaze intently, my mom remarked, 'Don't you like watermelon seeds, dear? Next time, I'll get a seedless variety for you.' I was surprised because I hadn't seen seedless watermelon before. My mom explained that due to advancements in technology, many fruits, such as watermelon, grapes, and pomegranates, now come seedless. I enjoyed each bite of the watermelon, feeling its juiciness, sweetness, and a faint, pleasant aroma. Watermelon is truly distinct from other fruits like jackfruit, banana, and pineapple. Today's watermelon was exceptionally delicious. In the future, I'll actively accompany my mom to the market and learn from her how to select fruits, especially watermelons.
I find myself favoring this type of fruit much more.
