1. Describing Cherry Blossom or Apricot Tree: Describing Cherry Blossom Tree on Tet Day, Sample 1:
The chilly northern wind blows
Trees shiver along the roadside
The small cherry blossoms
Still bloom pink in the courtyard
The flowers say: Winter has passed
Tet is on its way.
At the beginning of spring, the northern winds still linger, sweeping through the land with their cold embrace. Yet the cherry tree in front of my house pays no mind to the chill of the wind; it continues to sprout green leaves, budding eagerly to welcome Tet.
This cherry tree was brought home by my grandfather from last year's Tet festivities. At first glance, I was impressed by its sinuous form, both in the trunk and branches. Grandfather said from now on, this cherry tree would celebrate the arrival of Tet with the family. And after just one year, the cherry tree has grown to about two to three meters tall. Its roots delve deep into the earth within the red ceramic pot. The trunk of the cherry tree is only as thick as an adult's forearm but twists and turns like an upright snake. This particular snake wears a coat of dark brown, rough skin. The cherry tree boasts countless large and small branches. Yet each branch grows horizontally for a stretch before arching upwards, reaching towards the sky like arms embracing the sun, welcoming the rain.
Despite the relentless northern winds, the cherry blossoms continue to bud. This is also the time when the cherry buds begin to bloom. When the sunlight first shines, the cherry buds seem to awaken, eagerly opening their eyes to blossom. Each cherry blossom has five petals. The pale pink petals are smooth and delicate. Looking at the flowers, I can't help but think of rosy, chubby lips of little ones. Those chubby lips grow intertwined with the green leaves. Thanks to the sunlight, the young shoots have now turned into countless silky, lush green leaves. Perhaps it is because of the vibrant green color that cherry trees are often chosen as ornamental plants to welcome spring.
On the evening of the 30th Tet, my sisters and I began to adorn the cherry tree. We hung lanterns, red couplets, lucky money envelopes, and fairy lights around the cherry branches. Thanks to this, the tree became even more beautiful.
On the morning of the 1st day of Tet, the cherry blossoms bloomed splendidly. Anyone who stepped into our house gate marveled at the unique beauty of those vibrant pink flames. I hope the cherry tree remains as beautiful and fresh to accompany me welcoming another new year.
