In our house, there's an old desk alarm clock that has been standing steadfastly in a corner of our drinking table for several years now. It has become a cherished companion, deeply ingrained in our family.

This clock, made in Vietnam, holds sentimental value as it was a gift from a close friend to my father a few years ago, hence it's treasured by everyone in our family. The clock is tall and bulky, slightly heavy to the touch. Its casing is white plastic, with gold-plated edges. While the plastic part shows few scratches, the gold plating in some places has tarnished and peeled off. It stands on three legs, with the front two legs plated in gold and the rear leg made of plastic. Inside the white glass pane is the dial with black numbers arranged evenly in a circle from 1 to 12, with the hour hand at the center. Next to the hour hand, on the right side, is a small gold-plated square compartment with a date indicator, surrounded by a delicate yellow decorative border. The clock hands come in different lengths and move at different speeds: The hour hand is the longest, dressed in a navy blue coat, occasionally moving slowly step by step. The minute hand is larger, shorter, and moves at a slower pace, while the slender and smallest second hand rotates the fastest, seemingly spinning continuously without pause. At the back is a small compartment for the battery neatly tucked away, along with small black buttons for setting the time and alarm.
