Describing the atmosphere of the study exchange session in our class
I. Outline of Describing the Atmosphere of the Study Exchange Session in Our Class
1. Introduction
- Introducing the study exchange session in class
- Reasons for this exchange: Initiated by the school.
Every month, the first week's session is when our class gathers to exchange study matters. This month, our class had a special activity dedicated to sharing study experiences as part of the 'Tandem Progress' movement initiated by the school. The atmosphere during the exchange was vibrant and serious, leaving me deeply impressed and enthusiastic.
Previously, our class sessions were for discussing various issues in class, but today's session was entirely devoted to exchanging our study experiences. As we commenced, our homeroom teacher gently stated the reason for today's focus: sharing study experiences among classmates, including both excellent students and those who are not yet outstanding.
The atmosphere during the exchange was lively; it seemed like everyone wanted to express their aspirations and opinions. With the most serious and positive attitude, everyone wanted to contribute valuable opinions to the class.
First, Ms. Huong - our homeroom teacher - raised questions about the main subjects in school, especially Vietnamese, Mathematics, and Foreign Languages. She encouraged weaker students in these subjects to ask questions or raise issues they struggle with so she could summarize and provide additional guidance. The atmosphere suddenly became a bit subdued. The class fell silent; it seemed like everyone was contemplating their issues to speak up. Surely, everyone felt hesitant about this topic. After a while, unexpectedly, a hand went up; it was Cường - yes, Cường is a student who still has some shortcomings. Everyone was surprised to hear Cường speak; he admitted he lacks effective study methods and strategies to excel in the core subjects. He expressed his desire for excellent students to share more about study experiences. Cường also hoped the teacher could assign a better-performing student to assist him in following the ongoing movement initiated by the school.
After Cường finished speaking, the whole class applauded in unison, deeply moved by Cường's courage. Following the applause, the class enthusiastically discussed study methods for each subject. Geography and History, how should they be studied? The core subjects, Mathematics and Literature, what's the best approach?
At that moment, our teacher invited the top three students in Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Languages to share their insights with us.
In our class, the top Math student is Linh, who also happens to be our class president. When called upon to share her experience, Linh emphasized the importance of extensive practice in excelling in Mathematics. She stressed the necessity of thorough preparation and attentive listening during class. Linh encouraged seeking immediate clarification from teachers if anything isn't understood. She also expressed her readiness to assist anyone struggling with Math to improve together.
Next, for Literature, Ms. Hường invited Hương - a petite girl with long hair who consistently tops the class in Literature. Hương shared her study techniques, emphasizing the significance of thorough preparation, careful reading, and understanding of literary texts. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of creativity and fluent expression in Literature. Therefore, when studying Literature, she urged everyone to immerse themselves in each text, fostering better understanding and performance.
Finally, Nam - the best friend in Foreign Languages of the whole class. Nam mentioned that Foreign Languages are not difficult if you dedicate time to them. Just diligently listen to short conversations, do the exercises given by the teacher along with some research. Exploration can lead to mastering this subject.
The concise and insightful sharing of study experiences by classmates left the entire class in contemplation. Everyone drew their own study methods from their peers' experiences. Subsequently, the extracurricular session became even livelier, happier, and more positive.
Near the end of the session, Ms. Hường summarized the students' opinions on study experiences and paired them up as study buddies to assist each other. She also shared effective study techniques such as using mind maps for memorization or reading books and articles to improve learning and presentation skills.
Our class's exchange of study experiences was enthusiastic, positive, cheerful, and democratic. Ms. Hường was very pleased with our students' enthusiasm. Before leaving, the whole class applauded in unison and promised to work together to build an excellent and cohesive class community, fulfilling her expectations.
