Guide to Designing Flyers with Word 2010
Step 1: Navigate to Insert > Shapes and choose New Drawing Canvas as shown in the image:
Step 2: Right-click inside the newly created frame and choose More Layout Options:
In the displayed dialog box, go to the Text Wrapping tab and select In front of text, then click OK:
Step 3: Right-click again on the newly created frame and choose Format Drawing Canvas:
Step 4: In the displayed panel, go to the Line Color tab and select Solid line, then choose a color for the border of the newly created frame:
Proceed to the Line Style tab and choose the width for the border of the newly created frame:
Step 5: Click on the Rectangle icon available on the toolbar above and draw another frame inside the brochure frame as shown. Then, right-click on this frame and select Format Shape:
Step 6: In the Fill tab, choose Solid Fill and then select the color for the newly drawn frame:

Step 7: Right-click once again on the newly created frame and select Add Text:

Step 8: Choose various font styles, font sizes, font colors, etc., for the text as you desire, then click OK:
Step 9: To adjust the text to fit the size of the newly created frame, right-click on the border of the current frame and select Format Shape:
Go to the Text Box tab, then check the Resize Shape to fit text option to ensure the text fits perfectly within the frame:
Step 10: Go to Insert > WordArt and choose an artistic font style that you prefer:
Enter the text you want to add effects to into the text box that appears and resize it:
Step 11: Insert a text box into the brochure by going to Insert > Text Box and selecting Draw Text Box:
Next, enter the text and right-click, choose Font. Proceed to customize the text color, font size, etc.:
Step 12: To remove the outline of the text box, right-click on its border, click the pencil icon, and select No Outline as shown below:
Step 13 : To insert clip art into your brochure, navigate to Insert > Clip Art, then type your desired keywords in the search box. For example, I'm searching for clip art related to IT:
Step 14 : Insert a text box into the brochure similar to the one above. Click inside the text box, then select the desired Clip Art icon from the right-side Clip Art panel. The Clip Art will be inserted directly into this text box:
Similarly, you can insert several other Clip Arts:
Next, proceed to remove the border for this text box, similar to the previous step:
Step 15 : Insert a Rounded Rectangle at the end of your brochure by selecting Insert > Shapes and choosing the Rounded Rectangle icon as shown:
Similar to creating the initial Rectangle frame, customize the color, border, shadow effects, and other enhancements for this Rounded Rectangle:
Then, insert text and frame, adjusting the text to fit the frame just like the initial creation. Here is the result:
