DK is showing a lackluster performance against top teams in LCK Spring 2023.
Before the 2023 season, DK was one of the teams expected to compete for the championship in LCK Spring 2023. This is because DK still maintains their star duo ShowMaker, Canyon. Moreover, they also recruited quality and experienced names in LCK such as Deft and Canna.
However, after 5 weeks into the competition, many Korean fans have eliminated DK from the championship race. This team has even been mockingly referred to as 'AF newcomers', 'playoffs gatekeeper'. The frequent failures against top opponents in LCK have earned DK this not-so-flattering nickname.
By the end of the 5th week of LCK Spring 2023, DK had lost to all 3 leading teams in the standings (T1, Gen.G, KT) in the first round. Even in the first return match against LSB, DK also suffered a swift 0-2 defeat.
Apart from the results, the performances of DK players have been quite disappointing recently. The team still handles the early game fairly well, but DK's team fighting capabilities encounter numerous issues. In the recent match against LSB, several team fights were lost by DK just because of careless positioning by a team member.
DK's next opponent is a red-hot KT team. In the previous match, DK narrowly lost to KT with a 1-2 score. If they suffer another defeat against this formidable opponent, DK's dreams of winning the LCK Spring 2023 title will become extremely distant.
