Recently, scrolling through Instagram or Facebook reveals a flurry of posts boasting images of people enjoying a certain type of ice cream adorned with gold, exuding opulence and presumably, a hefty price tag. One might assume these photos were taken in Japan or somewhere in Europe, but upon closer inspection of the check-ins, it's surprising to discover that this ice cream is being sold right in the heart of Saigon.
Specifically, this is the type of ice cream made to the exact standards of the gold-plated ice cream that once took Japan by storm. The ice cream itself doesn't differ much from others on the market—it's still deliciously cold with primary flavors of vanilla and green tea, served in a cone. What sets it apart is the addition of a layer of 24k gold leaf on top, which is not only for decorative purposes but also boasts health benefits and skincare properties. It's worth noting that the gold layer is quite delicate, so it easily adheres to the lips and teeth when consumed.
This gold-plated ice cream is currently available at La Vanille Paris store, located on the B2 floor of Takashimaya Shopping Mall (Saigon Centre). Despite being newly opened for a short time, the store has garnered attention from many. Thousands of young people, along with families and parents, out of curiosity, have eagerly tried this luxurious ice cream despite its hefty price of 150,000 VND per serving.
Ai Phuong, a young woman who has tried the gold-plated ice cream, shared her experience: “I've tried the green tea gold-plated ice cream here and found it quite delightful. The green tea flavor is sweet and gentle, with a distinct taste of green tea without being overly sweet or harsh like other places. What I like most is being able to witness the process of applying gold firsthand! Another plus point is the two French staff members here are extremely enthusiastic and friendly.” Without saying much, it's clear that there will be countless people flocking here to try this luxurious ice cream soon!
