1. Detailed configuration leak of Galaxy S23 Ultra surfaces
Galaxy S23, Samsung's new high-end smartphone series, likely to be launched in the early next year, has already started leaking information on the Internet.
According to leaked information from the website of the Chinese Telecommunications Equipment and Information Technology Authority (TENAA), a smartphone with the code name SM-S9180 has been registered with this agency, almost certainly the Galaxy S23 Ultra (Galaxy S22 Ultra introduced in February 2022 with the code name SM-S9080 in the Chinese market).
Information posted on the TENAA website has revealed the detailed configuration of the product. Accordingly, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature a 6.8-inch screen with a resolution of 3088x1440, equipped with a 4,855mAh battery (instead of 5,000mAh on the Galaxy S22 Ultra).
TENAA does not specify the type of processor equipped, but indicates that the product will use an octa-core processor, with clock speeds of 3.36GHz, 2.8GHz, and 2.0GHz, coinciding with the clock speeds of Qualcomm's newly released Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, thus it is almost certain that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be equipped with this chip generation.
Accompanying these are options of 8GB or 12GB RAM, along with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. Previous leaks suggested that the Galaxy S23 Ultra would have an 8/128GB memory option, but this option is unlikely to be available in the Chinese market.
The TENAA website does not mention information about the camera on the product, but insiders suggest that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature a main camera of up to 200 megapixels, accompanied by 2 telephoto cameras of 12 megapixels each (one supporting 3x optical zoom and one with 10x zoom), along with a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera. The product will support 8K video recording at 30 frames per second.
Information about upcoming products leaked on TENAA is often very accurate, so this is likely to be the final configuration of the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
2. The Galaxy S23 series will support satellite communication
The Korean newspaper ETNews, citing close sources from Samsung, stated that one of the new and noteworthy features of the Galaxy S23 is the ability for users to communicate, send messages, or send low-quality images via satellite connections in areas without mobile coverage.
Earlier, Huawei and Apple have also equipped satellite communication features for the Mate 50 and iPhone 14 series smartphones. It is noteworthy that Samsung will equip satellite communication features for all variants of the Galaxy S23, instead of just for the highest-end version like Apple (only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have satellite communication features).
If the Galaxy S23 allows users to send low-quality images via satellite, it will surpass competitors, as Huawei and Apple only allow users to send plain text messages via satellite connections.
Satellite communication feature will be very useful for users in case they get lost in remote areas without mobile signal, they can quickly contact rescue forces for assistance.
3. Samsung director reveals Galaxy S23 launch timing
The Korea JoongAng Daily quoted an anonymous Samsung director as saying that the company will hold a special event in February 2023 to launch the Galaxy S23 series. This is also the time when Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series.
'The Galaxy S23 series will be unveiled at a special Unpacked event in the United States in February next year,' said a Samsung director.
The specific timing is unclear, but the Korea JoongAng Daily revealed that Samsung's special event will be held in San Francisco, USA, in the first week of February.
