Capturing messages through screenshots is vital for your privacy. This guide will instruct you on how to receive alerts when someone takes a screen capture on Facebook and Instagram.

1. Receiving Alerts for Screen Captures on Instagram
On Instagram, you can receive alerts when the other party takes a screenshot of your messages. The only condition is that you have to set the message to Temporary Mode.
Temporary message mode provides an interface similar to regular messages, but it focuses more on privacy. Messages disappear after you close the chat. Additionally, when the other party takes a screenshot of the message, you'll receive a notification.
Here's how to use Temporary Mode and receive screenshot notifications on Instagram:
Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android phone. Tap the Paper airplane icon (messages) and start a conversation.

Step 2: In the message screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see the text 'Release to enable temporary mode'.

Step 3: Now, you'll see that the conversation has switched to temporary mode. Try sending a message.

If the other person takes a screenshot, you'll receive a notification: 'Someone' has taken a screenshot.

Additionally, when the recipient finishes reading the message and exits, the message you just sent will also disappear.
To exit temporary mode, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen, as usual.
2. Receive notifications when someone takes a screenshot on Messenger
In some countries, Instagram's Temporary Mode has also been applied to Messenger. Unfortunately, in Vietnam, we cannot use this feature yet. Therefore, you cannot receive notifications when someone takes a screenshot on Messenger.
However, if you want to send messages more securely, use Secret Conversations. When you enable Secret Conversations, only the 2 devices you and the other person use can view and exchange messages. Moreover, no one else can view your messages.
When you end a Secret Conversation session, all messages will be deleted.
To enable Secret Conversations, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Messenger on your phone, go to the person you want to message secretly.
Step 2: In the message interface, tap on the name of your friend. This action will take you to a menu. (For Android phones, tap on the “i” button at the top right corner).

Step 3: When the menu appears, select Go to Secret Conversation.

Now you've been taken to the interface of Secret Messages with the dominant color being black. Only you and the recipient can read these messages on the device in use.
Furthermore, you can make messages disappear quickly after the recipient reads them. Once again, tap on Your Friend's Name (or the “i” for Android).

Select Temporary Message >> choose the time you want the message to disappear.

Now, you can return to your conversation and send messages with slightly higher security. Although you can't prevent the other person from taking screenshots, the quick disappearance of messages will reduce the likelihood of them capturing them.
To exit Secret Message mode, simply swipe the conversation to the left and select More >> Delete.

When using social media, think twice before sharing anything online that you wouldn't want the whole world to know. Once your content spreads, it can be very challenging to resolve everything.
Temporary and secret messaging modes will help protect your privacy, so make sure to use them regularly!
