Honkai: Star Rail currently boasts 35 characters with 4-5 stars. With such a large character roster, players always seek multiple gear builds, different fate paths for their favorite characters to navigate the Abyss or Simulation Universe optimally.
In the Simulation Universe, many players have noticed that the playstyles of current characters no longer seem to adhere strictly to their respective fates. Destruction and Why Blade Can't Utilize It
After a lengthy period experiencing Blade alongside the fate-binding Destruction in the Simulation Universe, I've drawn a few conclusions:
- Benefits of Embracing Destruction: ATK, related buffs when HP drops to low and critical levels.
- Key Stats When Holding Blade: Max HP, critical hit rate, critical damage, follow-up strikes, status resistance, damage when HP is low.

Reasons Players Still Choose Destruction
According to Mytour's research, there are several reasons why players opt for Destruction on online forums. We've gathered various viewpoints:
- Blade and Nanook bear a striking resemblance, so their playstyles are likely compatible.
- Blade falls under the Destruction fate, hence related effects naturally prove effective.
- Blade can self-reduce HP, maximizing the efficacy of blessings.
- Destruction blessings offer significant boosts to characters, which can apply to Blade as well.
Why Blade Isn't a Good Fit?
As you can see from the outset, Destruction heavily emphasizes ATK stats, with this fate being able to add an additional 189% attack when a character's HP drops to 40% (just using Echoing Cry + Molecular Structure). This attack stat can even become more fierce if players drop it lower. This additional increase can be excellent on paper for many characters, such as Arlan.

In reality, Blade in Honkai: Star Rail shares a similar equipment setup and gameplay mechanics with Hu Tao in Genshin Impact, as both rely on HP, CrD, CrR, and their respective HP percentages. Additionally, Blade's regular attacks can only deal damage less than 50% of its attack power, even with level 5 souls and maxed-out skills (excluding non-enhanced normal attacks), whereas characters at the current stage can deal a minimum of 50% regular damage.
So the 189% ATK bonus from Destruction is heavily depleted and ineffective. Blessings fluctuate greatly, difficult to control. Many players share they would rather use Hunting to surpass VTMP than follow Nanook, as Lan can provide up to 174% critical rate, over 100% critical damage, relatively easy to control, and replenishes a lot of energy.

Based on combined combat and statistical surveys, Blade seems quite suitable for Wealth as Yaoshi's blessings greatly boost HP stats, enhancing survival ability. It especially enables Blade to solo play well in various worlds and levels. Players can also combine blessings from Joy or Destruction to increase Blade's damage output.

Resulting in Blade at level 70, with 8000 base HP and the aforementioned stats, the actual HP of the 'slowpoke' will rise to 12000, and his damage output will fluctuate around 20-30k damage depending on whether the monster has high Wind resistance. Therefore, Blade is nearly impossible to defeat.

These insights surely helped you identify which fate is more suitable for Blade in VTMP. Wishing you all the best in choosing the most suitable gameplay to surpass VTMP.
