Many recent users have expressed frustration over being tracked while chatting on Facebook. This causes inconvenience for those who prefer not to share their location. Ideally, Facebook should disable this feature instead of enabling it by default.

Currently, when chatting on Facebook, your location is displayed right below the conversation. In reality, not everyone wants to share their location all the time. Method 1: Disable Facebook chat location tracking on your phone

Firstly, log in to Facebook or open the Messenger app, then access the settings gear icon.

Uncheck the Location box to disable the location tracking feature for Facebook chat.

Method 2: Disable location tracking when writing a status on Facebook via computer

When writing a status on Facebook, you might see your location displayed below.

At this point, simply click the X button to remove the location.
