Starting from Adobe Reader version 9.3 onwards, Adobe has introduced the quick search feature in PDF documents. This means the utility will automatically generate a cache memory from any PDF file you search, reducing the time for subsequent searches in the PDF. The default cache memory size is 100 MB.
In the series of guides on PDF tricks, Mytour has previously shown you how to disable notifications when viewing PDF files to avoid disrupting your work. In this article, another trick will help you work more efficiently by turning off the quick search feature in PDF files.
Disable Quick Search Feature in Adobe Reader
Step 1: Open Adobe Reader by clicking the icon on your Desktop
Step 2: Use the shortcut Ctrl + K to open the Preferences window or open it by clicking Edit on the toolbar, then select Preferences.
Step 3: In the Preferences --> Search window (under Categories).
In Search, uncheck the box next to Enable fast find in the Fast Find section.
Click OK to save the settings.
By completing all the steps above, although you may not be able to search a large PDF file as before, the search speed in PDF files will be significantly increased instead.
