In Lái Thiêu, mangosteen is extensively cultivated with vast mangosteen orchards covering tens of hectares with thousands of trees. Lái Thiêu mangosteen is as big as a grapefruit, has a dark purple color, thick and tough skin, and when cut, it has 5-6 segments. The mangosteen segments have a sweet, refreshing taste but very rich in flavor.
