Koh Rong is now too popular among the Vietnamese, losing its uniqueness and pristine charm.

Koh Tonsay is an island situated off the southern coast of Cambodia, approximately 4.6 km south of the city of Kep. In Khmer, Koh Tonsay translates to Rabbit Island. The sea around the island is shallow, and the seabed slopes gently, creating a distinctive feature for Koh Tonsay, making it an interesting swimming spot.

How to Get There?

From Phnom Penh, you can reach the city of Kep by bus or taxi.
Bus option: Sorya Bus Company at the central bus station, bus number 168; or catch a direct bus on National Road No. 2. Both options cost $4 per person per way (around 90,000 VND) and take about 4-5 hours to reach Kep.
Taxi: If you're traveling in a group of 4-5 people and prefer a taxi, head to Phsar Dumkor to find one. Prices range from $26 to $32 per trip (approximately 500,000 to 700,000 VND).

From the Kep city port, there are boats to Koh Tonsay, taking about 30 minutes. The first trip starts at 9 am, and the last boat back from Koh Tonsay departs at 4 pm. The ticket price is $11 per way (around 250,000 VND).

What to Do?
Koh Tonsay is relatively small, taking only 2-3 hours on foot to explore the entire island. As the island is not developed for tourism, water sports or entertainment activities are scarce. Due to its tranquility, Koh Tonsay is suitable for gentle relaxation activities. Here are some activities you can try on Koh Tonsay:

What to Eat? Where to Stay?
On Koh Tonsay, there are bungalows (small wooden houses for groups of 3-4 people or more) priced at $7 (approximately 155,000 VND) per night. The houses are basic, equipped with mosquito nets, and of course, no Wi-Fi. However, this allows you to experience a complete getaway.

Similar to Koh Rong or the majority of island beach destinations in Vietnam, seafood is freshly caught and sold right on the coastline at a reasonably comfortable price, ensuring a delicious and affordable feast. With a bit of effort, you can enjoy a seafood feast without breaking the bank. Overall, dining in Koh Tonsay is not excessively expensive.
