1. Built on an Artificial Island
Connected by a private bridge to Burj Al Arab, accessible only to hotel staff and guests, the building alone stands over 1,000 feet (300 m) tall, surpassing even the Eiffel Tower, spanning 56 floors. 230 concrete columns support the entire structure extending 130 feet (40 m) below sea level to maintain buoyancy for the island.
The building is designed to resemble the sail of a ship. Beyond aesthetics, its design ensures minimal obstruction to marine life below and maximizes UV ray protection from the sun. Every detail of the design has been meticulously planned.

8. Restaurant Serving Seafood in an Underwater Setting
The Burj Al Arab features an underwater restaurant called Al Mahara, meaning “oyster shell”. The entrance to the restaurant is a golden-domed hallway resembling a submarine. At its center lies a massive fish tank teeming with colorful coral and exotic fish, including sharks. Just as you're enjoying your dinner, the sharks may come closer to you.
The fish tank is often a proposal spot for couples: when a diver suddenly appears in the tank near your table, it's time for you to prepare for a special moment.

9. Entertainment Services Beyond Your Wildest Dreams
Additionally, the hotel's amenities include multiple swimming pools, both indoor and outdoor, 9 restaurants and bars, a water park, and the renowned Talise Spa offering expansive ocean views and a private beach for guests. You can also request a romantic evening in the pool for two: hotel staff will float candles and rose petals in the pool.

10. Each Room Comes with a Perfume Collection
Ever noticed those tiny toiletries you often find in hotels? Most shampoo and shower gel come in sample sizes, along with a tube of quality toothpaste if you're lucky. Well, forget about those trivialities. The Hermès luxury personal care set consisting of 14 items is the standard in every suite for you to pamper yourself in your own style. And you can even take them home when you stay at the Burj Al Arab.

11. Luxurious Bed Linens Made from the Finest and Rarest Materials
To ensure a restful night's sleep, the bed linens in each room are crafted from the rarest goose down in the world. These feathers are hand-picked from wild eider ducks on the Icelandic islands. Mother ducks pluck the softest feathers from their chests to line nests and keep eggs warm. Only about 4,400 lbs (2,000 kg) of eiderdown feathers are harvested annually.
If you prefer a more intricate design for your bed linens, the hotel also offers 17 types of specially designed pillows for you to choose from.

12. The hotel also houses a dedicated hospital for sea turtles
Burj Al Arab is also home to a designated turtle hospital, an initiative aimed at aiding and rehabilitating sick and injured sea turtles. Since its inception, the program has released over 1,600 rescued sea turtles back into the ocean.
