Xiaomi's recent smartphone releases in Vietnam, the Redmi Note 10S and Redmi Note 10 5G, come with noteworthy differences. No longer solely emphasizing specifications, the brand has balanced various factors to create two devices tailored to users' diverse needs.
So what are the differences between these two devices? Let's find out together!
Stable performance, more suitable price-wise
Xiaomi's latest offerings in the Vietnamese market share similarities such as both running Android 11 customized with MIUI 12 interface. Delivering smooth daily experiences with numerous exciting features waiting for you to explore, the difference lies mainly in the specifications of the two devices.
Redmi Note 10S is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G95 chip tailored for gaming.Redmi Note 10S is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G95 octa-core chip. It's worth mentioning that this is a chip designed to meet users' gaming needs, handling all heavy tasks smoothly.
Moreover, Redmi Note 10S is also equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for ample storage and multitasking.
In my opinion, this is a condensed version of the Redmi Note 10 Pro, as the device is equipped with advanced technologies but comes at a more affordable price compared to its predecessor. Being equipped with IP53 dust/water resistance is a plus that is hard to find in this mid-range segment.
Redmi Note 10 5G is equipped with a chip integrated with 5G technology in the mid-range segment.Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 10 5G will be equipped with the latest chip from MediaTek, namely the Dimensity 700 5G octa-core. Its performance brings exceptional stability, suitable for playing current games like Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, ... at moderate settings.
In addition, the product will have 128GB of internal storage and 2 RAM versions for you to choose from: 8GB or 4GB RAM depending on your needs and budget.
Although many people do not rate the performance on the Redmi Note 10 5G, the device has an advantage in being supported by advanced 5G technology. You will enjoy the high-speed mobile network technology of the future.
The camera has been improved, no longer like before
Looking at the camera specifications, you will notice the difference between the two models. Redmi Note 10S features a quad-camera setup of up to 64 MP, while the more affordable Redmi Note 10 5G is equipped with a triple-camera setup of 48 MP. In my opinion, each camera setup has its own strengths and weaknesses.
Redmi Note 10S comes with a quad-camera setup supporting various interesting photography features.Firstly, Redmi Note 10S is equipped with a quad-camera setup with the following specifications: 64 MP main camera, 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and two 2 MP depth and macro cameras. The standout feature of this smartphone is its high-resolution main camera, which allows you to capture sharp and detailed photos, perfect for editing.
In my assessment, the image quality on the Redmi Note 10S is quite true to life and sharp. In well-lit conditions, the device meets all my basic photography needs, easy to hold and capture. However, in low-light conditions, like many other devices, the images are quite noisy, but when night mode is activated, the images become better.
Moreover, the 13 MP selfie camera on the device is sufficient to satisfy me, as it is integrated with various beauty modes and supports many useful features.
Redmi Note 10 5G features a triple-camera setup that is adequate for everyday use, with decent quality within its price range.Next, the triple-camera setup on the Redmi Note 10 5G, comprising a 48 MP main camera, depth sensor, and macro lens, is similar to that of the Redmi Note 10S. However, the device lacks the ultra-wide camera, which, in my opinion, is the most regrettable aspect of the product when compared to the Redmi Note 10S.
Despite being a variant with a reduced main camera, the image quality it delivers is not compromised.
And the 8 MP selfie camera, in my opinion, is quite decent. Although the resolution may not be as high as competing products, the image quality is still fairly satisfactory for basic users.
Sharp display, each version has its strengths
The Redmi Note 10S features a premium AMOLED display. As for the display, the Redmi Note 10S boasts a 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen, providing vibrant and vivid visuals. Due to the AMOLED display, it is highly rated for outdoor visibility.
For those who enjoy watching movies and entertainment after hours of studying or working hard on their smartphones, this smartphone is sure to be a hit. With its display showing incredibly vibrant colors, deep blacks, it's perfect for streaming your favorite movies.
The Redmi Note 10 5G features a 90 Hz refresh rate display. As for the Redmi Note 10 5G, it is equipped with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display, but compensates with a high 90 Hz refresh rate. In my opinion, although it doesn't have an AMOLED screen, the device's high refresh rate will make the daily experience incredibly smooth.
Combined with the peak performance of the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, you'll surely have some fantastic moments of entertainment on this device. Additionally, the device is supported by AdaptiveSync feature, automatically adjusting the refresh rate, helping the device save battery while always delivering stable performance.
Large Battery, No More Worries About Running Out of Power
Both Xiaomi's new smartphones are equipped with large batteries up to 5,000 mAh. This has always been a strong point of the Redmi series, providing relatively long and lasting usage time.
The 5,000 mAh battery on both devices can last up to 2 days. The only difference between the two devices lies in fast charging capabilities. The Redmi Note 10S supports fast charging technology up to 33W, while the Redmi Note 10 5G only integrates 18W fast charging technology. The noteworthy aspect here is the time taken to fully charge the 5,000 mAh battery.
The issue is that, as a regular user, I don't really care much about how fast the phone charges. Because I often charge my smartphone overnight, even though I know it's not good, but it's a hard habit to break, causing me to forget about the fast charging feature on the device.
Redmi Note 10S and Redmi Note 10 5G: Which One to Choose to Suit You Best?
Truly, choosing a smartphone that suits oneself is really difficult. Each person has their own preference. How to choose then?

If you're someone who wants to own a device with many premium features like the Redmi Note 10 Pro but doesn't have enough budget, then you can consider buying the Redmi Note 10S with a better price tag while still retaining many features from its elder sibling. For example, the IP53 water resistance, the premium quad-camera setup, and more.
But if you want to experience the cutting-edge 5G technology, then go for the Redmi Note 10 5G. Despite the trimmed-down specs to accommodate 5G, the device is worth buying compared to others in the same segment, especially being the most affordable official 5G-enabled device in the market.
Moreover, you'll get an instant discount of 500,000 VND with the Redmi Note 10S and 400,000 VND with the Redmi Note 10 5G when pre-ordering at The Gioi Di Dong (Applicable for pickups from May 28 to 30). Additionally, both devices are still supported with 0% interest installment plans.
