Apple was expected to unveil the iPhone 12 at the event on September 15th, but instead, they introduced the 2020 iPad Air and the latest generation of Apple Watch.
So, what sets these new products apart and brings innovation compared to the previous generation? Let's delve into it with Mytour.
Last year, Apple only upgraded the iPad Pro and iPad Mini, and this year, the spotlight is on the new iPad Air. After 1.5 years, the tech giant introduces a new update for the iPad Air, witnessing significant changes in both design and specifications.
A radical redesign on the iPad Air 2020
The Apple iPad Air 2020 brings almost a complete overhaul compared to its predecessor, featuring a flat-edge design similar to the latest iPad Pro. Accompanied by a larger 10.9-inch display (up from 10.5 inches), the removal of the physical home button, and slimmed-down bezels, the device is only slightly larger than the iPad Mini 5.

A standout feature is the integration of the Touch ID sensor into the power button on the side, albeit the absence of Face ID might disappoint some fans.

The iPad Air 2020 display sees minimal changes
In addition to the 0.4-inch increase in screen size, the iPad Air 2020 still utilizes the Liquid Retina display and lacks the 120Hz refresh rate seen in the newer iPad Pro models.

Moreover, the iPad Air 2020 switches to a USB Type-C port instead of the Lightning port found in the previous generation, enhancing compatibility with various tech devices and accessories in the market.
The powerful and superior specs of the iPad Air 2020
One of the standout features of the new iPad Air generation is its inclusion of the Apple A14 chip – the chip expected to be featured in the 2020 iPhone 12, boasting a 5nm process with 6 CPU cores.

The new chip generation is poised to deliver a 40% increase in CPU performance, along with a 35% boost in graphics processing. Paired with the support of the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, this promises to be a highly supportive product for users' work, study, and entertainment endeavors.

Improved Camera on the iPad Air 2020
The camera is also a highlight of the iPad Air 2020 generation, featuring a 12MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, similar to the iPad Pro 2019. This camera setup allows for capturing high-quality photos and recording 4K videos at 60fps.

Meanwhile, the front-facing camera on the iPad Air 2020 is a 7MP single camera with an f/2.0 aperture, capable of recording fullHD videos at 60 frames per second.
Alongside the support of the Pencil and AI-enhanced editing software, which boasts a 10-fold enhancement, users can expect professional-level photo editing capabilities comparable to a graphic design laptop.

New Operating System on iPad Air 2020
Apple integrates the entirely new iOS 14 operating system on the iPad Air, set to be officially released in a week, and this will also be the operating system used on the 2020 iPhone.

In terms of connectivity, the iPad Air 2020 also features Wifi 6 capability, though it only supports LTE network and not yet 5G. However, the iPad Air 2020 is improved in software to bring faster LTE network connectivity by 60% compared to its predecessor.
The product also comes with a complimentary Apple TV+ service for the first year of usage.
New Colors on iPad Air 2020
The iPad Air 2020 generation comes in a total of 5 colors including silver, space gray, rose gold, green, and sky blue.

Battery Capacity and Other Changes
Apple has not provided official specifications regarding the battery capacity of the iPad Air 2020; however, the company states that the new iPad Air offers longer usage time with 10 hours of continuous video playback and 10 hours of Wifi browsing.

Moreover, it may come with a power adapter with a capacity of up to 28.6 watts, allowing for faster tablet charging.
Furthermore, the iPad Air 2020 generation has been upgraded in terms of speaker quality, providing a better music and movie-watching experience for users.
