Who transforms into the Night King in Game of Thrones?
Contributing to the worldwide success of Game of Thrones are not only the beloved protagonists like the Stark family, Jon Snow, or the 'Mother of Dragons' Daenerys. The HBO production also shines with its depth-filled antagonists, equally adored as the heroes. Among them, the Night King - the ultimate embodiment of terror - certainly leaves the most unforgettable impressions on viewers.

In Game of Thrones, the Night King is an enigmatic, silent figure of immense danger. Alongside his army of the undead, the Night King spreads chaos and death wherever he goes, posing the greatest threat to the Stark family. In the final battle, young Arya Stark manages to defeat the Night King in a close-quarters combat. Despite his defeat, the Night King remains memorable to the audience thanks to his intricate characterization, topped with an incredibly impressive appearance. But who brought this character to life?

Vladimir Furdik (stage name Furdo) is the mastermind behind the haunting portrayal of the Night King in Game of Thrones. In season 6, Furdik even appeared in human form before becoming the iconic villain.

According to the crew, it took hours for the makeup team to help the actors transform into fantastical beings (like the Night King), and even more hours to remove the makeup afterward. From a small-scale crew, Game of Thrones gradually expanded into a blockbuster production, a natural outcome of its immense allure to audiences.

Apart from Game of Thrones, Vladimir Furdik has also graced many other Hollywood blockbusters, mostly playing crucial stunt roles. Some of the notable productions he's been involved in include Thor: The Dark World, Narnia, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Skyfall, Snow White and The Huntsman, The Witcher, Army of the Dead,... Starting his career in the early '90s, Furdik has participated in nearly a hundred projects large and small, with an undeniable expertise in stunt performance.
