Head out now to witness these stunning locations with your own eyes!
Ninh Bình
Among the three main filming locations in Vietnam, Ninh Bình stands out as the place where the film crew spent the most time capturing numerous scenes. The three tourist destinations in Ninh Bình featured in the movie are Vân Long lagoon, Tràng An, and Tam Cốc – Bích Động.
Vân Long Lagoon
Vân Long Lagoon, located in Gia Viễn district, Ninh Bình, spans an impressive 3,500 hectares and is likened to a giant mirror reflecting the serene landscape of mountains and water. The crystal-clear surface of the lagoon reveals captivating moss carpets beneath. Surrounding it are majestic limestone mountains, most of which have been eroded by water to form a surreal system of caves. This area is not only a tourist destination but also the largest flooded natural conservation area in the North Delta region. Don't miss the opportunity to row through the cool caves or admire flocks of white storks as the evening sets in.

In reality, Vân Long Lagoon often attracts tourists who embark on scenic boat rides. However, in the movie, the filmmakers transformed it into a setting featuring a tribal village nestled on a patch of land near Vân Long Lagoon, surrounded by towering mountains.

Tràng An
Tràng An is one of Ninh Bình's most renowned tourist destinations. Its pristine natural landscape has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site. The scenery here is created by a river meandering through limestone mountains, forming countless mystical and enchanting natural caves. Exploring Tràng An's beauty is best done by gliding through its caves on a boat, immersing yourself in the harmonious blend of water, clouds, and sky.

Tam Cốc – Bích Động
The Tam Cốc – Bích Động tourist area covers a natural area of 350.3 hectares, located 7 km from Ninh Bình city, primarily in Ninh Hải commune (Hoa Lư district). The area offers various boat tours, cycling, and hiking routes connecting nearly 20 tourist spots. The main routes include:
– Boat tours: Van Lam pier – Ngô Đồng river – Tam Cốc route; Waterway crossing (under Bích Động); Thạch Bích – Nắng valley route; Thung Nham – bird garden route; Fairy cave – Thiên Hà cave route…

– Walking, cycling, and mountain climbing spots: Bích Động mountain and pagoda; Fairy cave; Múa cave; Cố Viên Lầu ancient house area; Thái Vi temple – Thiên Hương cave…

Quảng Bình
In Kong: Skull Island, the stunning landscapes of Quảng Bình are portrayed as the homeland of King Kong. Featured scenes include the Chà Nòi valley (Đá Đẽo pass area, Thượng Hóa commune), Yên Phú lake (Trung Hóa commune), river areas, Chuột cave (Tân Hóa commune), and the Tú Làn cave system.
Tú Làn Cave System
The Tú Làn Cave System is located 70 km from Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng National Park, next to the ethnic minority village of Tân Hóa. To reach the cave, you must traverse fields of grass and corn, lush green forests, and a meandering river until you reach the first hill, climbing up rocky slopes and descending into the valley. Discovered in 2009, the Tú Làn cave system includes the main Tú Làn cave and 8 other caves: Ươi, Chuột, Hung Ton, Kim, Tú Làn, Ken, Tố Mộ, and Bí Mật.

Mouse Cave
Located in Tân Hóa commune (Quảng Bình), Mouse Cave is a unique destination nestled beside a small stream, surrounded by mountains. From the cave entrance, you can see a vast valley surrounded by towering limestone mountains, exuding a pristine and enchanting beauty. The cave has a wide entrance and is approximately 300m deep. Inside, there are many stalactites and stalagmites with various colors, predominantly white and pink. Though not as vast and deep as other caves in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site, venturing further inside Mouse Cave feels like entering another world, leaving visitors spellbound.

Yên Phú Lake
Located in Yên Phú hamlet (Trung Hóa commune, Minh Hóa district), Yên Phú Lake is also a chosen filming location. This peaceful village boasts lush green fields and majestic natural scenery, making it an ideal spot for capturing Instagram-worthy photos and enjoying the beauty of nature with friends.

Chà Nòi Valley
This area is located in the Đá Đẽo pass area, Thượng Hóa commune, within the Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng World Natural Heritage Site. Below the pass lies Chà Nòi valley, nestled against the majestic limestone mountains with their rugged peaks and misty atmosphere. It's where the director chose to set the scenes of the explorers venturing into the 'unknown territory' in the film.

Hạ Long Bay
While Quảng Bình was chosen as the first filming location, Hạ Long Bay was the final destination. Specifically, Hạ Long Bay was the chosen location for filming crucial scenes. The main stop chosen by the film crew was the Hòn Cọc Chèo area.
