The name Hoa Binh was given due to the 7.2m high statue of Hoa Binh, with a 22.8m high pedestal, constructed and placed here when Hanoi was honored as the 'city for peace' in 2000. With a construction land area of over 20 hectares and a total investment of 282 billion VND, the park was built to commemorate 1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi and officially opened during the Grand Celebration of the Millennium of Thang Long in October 2010 to serve the entertainment needs of Hanoi residents.
